The 16th Annual Con Curtin Music Festival is on from the 24th to the 26th of June! There will be traditional music sessions throughout the weekend with top class musicians from all over Ireland. For more information on the sessions visit our Pub Trail page.
Friday 24th June
This year the Friday night Concert will feature Téada, with Kerry native Séamus Begley on accordion. Also performing on the night will be the Crossfield Céilí Band.
Tickets are now on sale for the concert and can be obtained from any committee member. For contact details please visit our Contacts page. The concert is a ticket only event, so be sure to get your tickets early to avoid disappointment.
Saturday 25th June
This year we will be holding music workshops for the following instruments; Accordion (Paul Finn), Fiddle (Oisin MacDiarmuida), Banjo (Gearoid Keating), Concertina (Tim Collins), Flute (Damien Stenson).
We are also holding a singing workshop with Seamus Begley.
The concertina, fiddle, banjo & flute workshops will be held in the school, the accordion workshop will be held in the Hall. The singing workshop (11-2.30pm) will be held in the Woodview Bar. The music and singing workshops will take place between 11am and 2.30pm. Registration is at 10.30am.
The Open Accordion Competition takes place at 3.30pm and is open to all ages. Entry to the competition is only €15 with the winner receiving the Aeneas O’Connell Memorial Cup plus €400 1st Prize and €100 2nd Prize. Entry to the concert in the hall is only €5.
A fiddle recital takes place in 'The Sportsfield' Bar on Saturday the 25th of June @ 5pm. Further details on this to follow shortly.
Traditional mass takes place in St Carthage Church Saturday the 25th of June at 8pm.
Sunday 26th June
Weather permitting, the Junior & Senior busking competition will take place at 1.30pm. The Con Curtin Memorial Cup will be presented to the winners of the Senior Category. This will be followed by an open air session which will take place in the square and is open to everyone to join. There is also an U11 busking competition this year, kindly sponsored by Brosna Comhaltas CCE - 1st Prize €60, 2nd Prize €45, 3rd Prize €30.
The Striolán Céilí Band play in the hall for a Set Céilí at 3pm.
This year, Nell Ní Chróinín & Mick O'Connor will be in attendance for the annual singing evening in Flanagans bar at 5pm.
